India’s embrace of rapid urbanisation has been closely watched since its Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Indian Smart Cities mission in 2015, with the aim of developing 100 smart cities to enable sustainable and citizen-centric urban growth. While Andhra Pradesh builds a new capital city drawing on global best practices and invites cutting-edge urban solutions, Maharashtra customises sustainable practices to retrofit its existing cities. Together with other South Asian cities, the session presented business opportunities in cities with high urban growth rates looking to find ready solutions to their increasing demands.
