BEST OF BRITISH INNOVATION TO BE SHOWCASED THROUGH WORLD CITIES SUMMIT

5 July 2018

UK companies will share best practices, latest technologies and tap on business opportunities.

The Department for International Trade (DIT), Singapore, is pleased to announce that over 30 British companies will be participating in the World Cities Summit (WCS) and its related events, include the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) and the CleanEnviro Summit (CESS) from 9 – 11 July 2018 at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre. These events, offer global platforms for government and industry leaders to identify, develop and share practical and scalable solutions for the Water and Environmental challenges respectively.

In addition, the British High Commission Singapore is partnering the National Climate Change Secretariat to host the Green Growth Business Forum (GGBF). The GGBF will see global experts debate, discuss, and drive ambitions in green finance, disruptive technology innovation and green business opportunities. Along with industry leaders, Marvin Rees, the Mayor of Bristol and Tim Bowles, the Mayor of West of England will also be sharing opportunities for investment partnerships in the UK. Nick Bridge, the UK’s Special Representative for Climate Change will talk about his government’s Clean Growth Strategy.

In advance of the events, HE Scott Wightman, British High Commissioner to Singapore said, “We are committed to supporting British Companies that offer innovative solutions to today’s complex problems. Through the UK’s strong leadership in climate action and SMART City transformations, the UK is an ideal partner for Singapore in realising its sustainability goals.”

The High Commissioner will also attend the launch of a cloud-based analytics and visualisation service by Mott Macdonald at SIWW (10 July) and the launch of a mobile recycling plant at CESS by CDE Asia (11 July), part of CDE Global that is headquartered in Northern Ireland.

Singapore is the United Kingdom’s 4th most popular investment destination outside Europe, while the United Kingdom receives one-third of Singapore’s investment into Europe, amounting to £18.2 billion in 2016.
